99% of the puzzles I make are my own ideas. However this is one of the few that wasn't. I had previously seen sketches of it in Jean-Claude Constintin's catalogue though didn't really understand what it was. Dieter Gebhardt then suggested in 1998 that I made it so at that point I spent some time figuring out precisely what the sketch was showing. See last two photos for that catalogue page as well as a picture of Jean-Claude. I don't think Jean-Claude or anyone apart from myself ever made this puzzle.
I made it from a regular sized Skewb and the resulting puzzle is enormous and very heavy. I hand sculpted the three masters out of polyester resin and used remeltable rubber (Gelflex) moulds before casting the final parts out of polyester resin. The pieces are semi hollow though not hollow enough to make a significant difference to the weight. It works fine but I was never happy with it. Normal Rubik's Cube style stickers were used with red opposite orange, green opposite blue and white opposite yellow.
In later years I went on to make more Containers and was finally satisfied with my Medium Container in 2006. In total I have made four containers. They are- Large Container, Medium Container, Mini Container and Medium White Container. For an overview of all my containers see here.
