I invented and made my Octaminx in 1996. In 1999 Dieter Gebhardt suggested that I make a truncated version. I didn't think this was a great idea but did it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised though and pretty happy with the resulting puzzle. Movement is good.
It was made by cutting down a Tetraminx. It could also be made from a Meffert's Pyraminx. I used Skewb style stickers and the colours were arranged in a similar fashion to my Octaminx with the same colour on opposite faces. The small squares are all pink.
