This is one of the five oversized Rubik's Cubes I have made. The others are Maxi Rubik's Cube (~10cm), Giant Rubik's Cube (14cm), Giant Rubik's Cube (18cm) and 27cm Rubik's Cube. I used one of those factory made Jumbo Cubes for the core and made the add-on parts by hand. I foolishly thought it would be a good idea to buy some of that square plastic drain pipe stuff to make the cubies. I cut it into short lengths and used polyester resin to seal the ends. This lead to a huge amount of reshaping and sanding and after a short while I deeply regretted using this technique.
Eventually I finished it and showed it off at the 2002 Dutch Cube Day. At the event Ton Dennenbroek persuaded me to part with it and it now resides in Holland with him. He went on to add the Rubik's Cube logo which can be seen in the last picture.
The largest commercially available puzzle has an edage of 10cm. See below.
