This is probably the largest Pyraminx puzzle ever made. Having made a few large Rubik's Cubes with edges up to 27cm, a couple of big 2x2x2s and a large Skewb I decided to make something big which wasn't cube shaped. Mefferts Pyraminx seemed like the obvious choice.
As stated in the video I chose to make a black plastic version for a number of reasons. The original Pyraminx puzzles were of course white but one side had gold textured stickers. This material is no longer available so I could not have made it look the same. Also, White plastic becomes dirty and marked very easily. And lastly I don't really like white plastic puzzles.
I am not going into details about how I made it but it turned out fairly good and quite light at a little over 1.5 kg. Movement is ok but as stated in the video I regard this as a prototype and I can see ways of improving the next one should I make it.
In July 2013 I made a Giant Tetraminx.
