I love taking things to extreme and having successfully made the world's first 11x11x11 V-Ball puzzle in January 2014 I couldn't resist having a go at a Petaminx version. The 11x11x11 was a great success though it was in white plastic which I hate and also made from a KO puzzle which tarnished it considerably.
At time of completion, my Petaminx Ball is probably the most ambitious puzzle transformation ever made. My Triple Fused Petaminxes are bigger, have more stickers and parts but it's a somewhat trivial transformation.
Some people have suggested I make a 13x13x13 ball when the cube comes out. I might but it would still have less parts and stickers than my Petaminx Ball. See below how they compare.

Unlike the 11x11x11 I had several spare parts floating around from previous Petaminx projects. This meant I could experiment a little to see if my idea would work. As long as I confined initial Dremelling to a small area I could replace the "damaged" pieces if necessary and retrieve a working Petaminx puzzle. Luckily the experimental Dremelling was fine so I relaxed and just went for it.
Having finished it's construction I had to decide what to do about stickers. I prefer to make my own but the 11x11x11 V-ball took 20 hours to sticker even though many were easily cut squares. The Petaminx Ball however required awkwardly shaped stickers for nearly every part. I really couldn't justify an estimated 50 hours or so and I turned to 'Oliver's Stickers' for help. Oliver Nagy quickly made a template and printed off the stickers. I still had to attach them and also cut the corner ones into 3 but it saved me a huge amount of time and I thoroughly recommend Oliver's Stickers for any custom project or simply restickering existing puzzles.
Shortly after I finished the Petaminx Ball I started on a second one which I filmed for the construction video. That video will be added soon. Each puzzle took around 80 hours to make.
Hopefully one day they will mass produce an Examinx or Zettaminx. I mean, imagine an Examinx Ball or a Zettaminx Ball!
