Choosing a Speed Megaminx
In September 2012 choosing a speed Megaminx became a whole lot easier with the introduction of the Dayan speed Megaminxes. These amazing puzzles with their new mechanisms allow far better corner cutting as well as the option to have corner ridges which provide greatly improved grip. See (plays in above viewer) or click below for prices and purchase details-

Choosing a Speed Rubik's Cube
The MoYu HuanYing was released in May 2013. A very loud cube with great reverse corner cutting. Highly rated though not much feedback available yet.

The Fangshi Shuang Ren was released in March 2013. Some say it's as good as a Zhanchi and it's said to have remarkable corner cutting. A very quiet cube.

The Dayan 6 PanShi was released in February 2013. It has been described as a cross between the Zhanchi and Lunhui with excellent good corner cutting.

The Dayan 5 Zhanchi was released in 2011 and is widely regarded as the best speed cube available. It's a 5th generation Dayan and combines the speed of the GuHong and the non-popping design of the LunHui.  There has been a problem with caps coming off. This is the puzzle Mats Valk used for his 5.55sec world record.

The Dayan Guhong V2 is very similar to the first and corner cutting is the same. It's slightly heavier though and a little smoother. Fractionally slower than the Zhanchi and less crispy. Popping is extremely rare and caps stay on better than the Zhanchi.

The Dayan GuHong is widely regarded as the best Rubik's Cube available. It came number one in a recent poll and has been used by current world record holder Feliks Zemdegs. The puzzle is incredibly smooth with a large cutting angle. It needs to be tensioned correctly and lubed but once done it is truly remarkable.

The ShengEn FII is also very good and often rated second to the Dayan Guhong. Some people even prefer it. It's been described as slick, smooth and quiet. Downsides though are the caps can fall off and the stickers aren't very hard wearing.

The Alpha V (Type A) AKA Type A DIY is another recommended cube. It's very fast and cuts corners as well as the Dayan Guhong. This means it's suitable for rougher handling.

The Dayan 4 LunHui is the improved version of the LingYun and is supposed to pop much less because of torpedo shaped pieces inside. Lubrication is recommended.

The Dayan 3 LingYun is very similar to the Dayan Guhong and a great puzzle. However the mechanism is a little more rounded and more prone to popping. Once again it needs tension adjustments. The Guhong cuts corners a little better.
